I tried to edited the hosts and LMhosts files located on C:\WINDOWS\System32\drivers\etcBut it is telling me I dont have a permission . I am logged on as an administrator I went to the security tab on the "etc" folder properties but the Add access is greyed out.I am the only user for the machine and I am an administratorPlease help Thank you

You didn't note which version of Windows you are running. However if you are running Windows 2008, then you are probably suffering from user account control. Even when I run Windows Explorer as an Admin, I find I don't always have the permissions I need. I haven't tried this yet, but something I would suggest would be to run NOTEPAD as an administrator, then tell it to open the file and try to edit it. If that isn't your issue, make sure the file isn't read only.

hi frnd, I think this is the problem with your policy settings but first you check your account status ( i check all my systems and my frinds systems it work properly and also one thing you do not mention about your os version) this is the first ime i here like this pblm you do one if you solve this pblm please post that steps for us thanks ................

Open notepad with elevated perms first, then edit the hosts file.
